Carl Bates

Carl Bates was the Founder of Sirdar, Africa’s leader in boardroom performance. He is a leading international entrepreneur, speaker and mentor and the global expert on the education and implementation of governance. Carl is passionate about the role of a high-performance board in ensuring the success and sustainability of companies and how they can have a meaningful economic impact in our world. As a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand (and was also a Fellow of the Institute in South Africa), and having served on the board of directors of a number of public organisations and private companies, Carl has an array of knowledge regarding the successful growth and development of businesses. Carl is also the 2016 winner of Wellington Regional Young Business Person of the Year. Carl lives in the Lower North Island, New Zealand.

Lauren Woolf

Lauren Woolf, founder and owner of MRS WOOLF, as well as TCLA (The Creative Leadership Academy), has a career in advertising and marketing that spans over 20 years, most of which were spent in leadership roles. With a passion for creativity from artist to agency, Lauren’s mission is to support companies and creative individuals and innovators of all kinds, ensuring that they thrive and survive through the complexity of today and tomorrow’s business environment. As an active member of the local and global creative community, Lauren is a patron and mentor of the Artist Proof Studio (APS) as well as a member and trainer for Business Arts South Africa (BASA). In 2016 Lauren received an Executive MBA through The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.  She is currently based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Kim Berman

Kim Berman is a Professor in Visual Art at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and Executive Director of Artist Proof Studio (APS), a community-based printmaking centre in Newtown, Johannesburg which she co-founded APS with the late Nhlanhla Xaba in 1991. She received her B.F.A. from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1981 and her M.F.A. from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/ Tufts University, USA in 1989. She completed her PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2009. She has lectured and exhibited widely in South Africa and internationally. She is committed to engaging arts for social change through her activism and teaching. Her book: Finding Voice: A visual approach to engaging change is published by the University of Michigan Press.

Tanya de Jongh
Creative & Marketing Director

Tanya is a Creative Director with 10 years experience in the advertising industry and has won multiple awards for both design and art direction. Utilising her wide range of skills and experience, Tanya formed part of the core team of TLC.

She developed the identity for the campaign, created all design, content and communication artwork as well as managed the social media, community management and PR for this initiative
